A little update

Well, well, well... much has happened since our trip to Vail. Almost immediately after getting home (24 hours) I had surgery! It seems as though I acquired a few hernias during my pregnancy, started as 2, thought it was 3 and then once they went in it was 4. :) I went into it thinking it was no big deal and that I would be up and about within 2 days or so. Mom had Taylor so we were all set with the baby but I just was not prepared to be down for the count! And that is what I was... I was shocked! Let me tell you when someone cuts into your stomach 3 times, then blows it full of air, moves stuff all around inside and pushes it back together with mesh wiring and then closes you up... it hurts. :) I don't know why I thought it wouldn't! Anyways, now almost 2 weeks later I am starting to feel better. Still super sore, tender and swollen and coughing or laughing is still impossible! I am not one to complain too much (I hope) but I am so ready to have my healthy body back!! I feel like for 3 months now it has been one thing after the next and I will be so thrilled to exercise again and just not have something hurt everyday.

After my surgery or more so, during it really, we had some little friends move into our house... termites!!! Otherwise known as the termies. We were hanging on Saturday after my surgery Thurs and Dave saw all these little bugs. Well, I had just take 2 percoset to pass out on the couch when he woke me up and wanted me to come look. To my dismay there were hundred of "swarmers" coming out of the vent in our main family room. Ugh!!!! It was so gross. $2000 later Terminex fixed the problem and now the house is warrantied with them for 2 years but still not what we were looking to spend the money on!!

This past weekend we headed down to Bloomington for my bro's Little 500 race and had an absolute blast! Their team did such a great job riding and in general it was just a gorgeous day to be out in the sunshine! Taylor did awesome and was never fussy or crazy, which was great! Sunday we did yard work all day long and got it looking in somewhat good shape. Our grass is still questionable and has bare spots all over it but I was out there the other morning in the rain plowing the land and seeding, so we will see what comes of that!

Now we are off tomorrow to San Francisco for Dave's 1 year Stanford reunion. We are so excited to stay with his parents and get some time with them and also see all of our friends from school! Taylor will be meeting most of them for the first time! I am going to stay a few extra days to work while Dave brings the baby back home to my mom. Wish him luck as he travels alone as a single dad! Ahhh!! She has been great on flights thus far so hopefully this flight will not be any different.

All in all we are great and still enjoying parenthood. It gets easier everyday as she falls more and more into a routine. She is sleeping great through the night and napping regularly during the day. I just need to figure out the time schedule I want to get her on!

Take care, hugs to all and we will update with more pics and such once we are back from Cali. Thanks!!

OMG--so sorry to hear about the hernias and surgery you had to have (months ago now)! I swear, if I hear one more pregnancy complication story, I'm gonna have a breakdown! j/k It really does rock your body in ways one could never predict! I'm sure it's all worth it though...Your little Taylor has to be such a joy. I'll keep my eye on the prize... =)
