A little update

Well, well, well... much has happened since our trip to Vail. Almost immediately after getting home (24 hours) I had surgery! It seems as though I acquired a few hernias during my pregnancy, started as 2, thought it was 3 and then once they went in it was 4. :) I went into it thinking it was no big deal and that I would be up and about within 2 days or so. Mom had Taylor so we were all set with the baby but I just was not prepared to be down for the count! And that is what I was... I was shocked! Let me tell you when someone cuts into your stomach 3 times, then blows it full of air, moves stuff all around inside and pushes it back together with mesh wiring and then closes you up... it hurts. :) I don't know why I thought it wouldn't! Anyways, now almost 2 weeks later I am starting to feel better. Still super sore, tender and swollen and coughing or laughing is still impossible! I am not one to complain too much (I hope) but I am so ready to have my healthy body back!! I feel like for 3 months now it has been one thing after the next and I will be so thrilled to exercise again and just not have something hurt everyday.

After my surgery or more so, during it really, we had some little friends move into our house... termites!!! Otherwise known as the termies. We were hanging on Saturday after my surgery Thurs and Dave saw all these little bugs. Well, I had just take 2 percoset to pass out on the couch when he woke me up and wanted me to come look. To my dismay there were hundred of "swarmers" coming out of the vent in our main family room. Ugh!!!! It was so gross. $2000 later Terminex fixed the problem and now the house is warrantied with them for 2 years but still not what we were looking to spend the money on!!

This past weekend we headed down to Bloomington for my bro's Little 500 race and had an absolute blast! Their team did such a great job riding and in general it was just a gorgeous day to be out in the sunshine! Taylor did awesome and was never fussy or crazy, which was great! Sunday we did yard work all day long and got it looking in somewhat good shape. Our grass is still questionable and has bare spots all over it but I was out there the other morning in the rain plowing the land and seeding, so we will see what comes of that!

Now we are off tomorrow to San Francisco for Dave's 1 year Stanford reunion. We are so excited to stay with his parents and get some time with them and also see all of our friends from school! Taylor will be meeting most of them for the first time! I am going to stay a few extra days to work while Dave brings the baby back home to my mom. Wish him luck as he travels alone as a single dad! Ahhh!! She has been great on flights thus far so hopefully this flight will not be any different.

All in all we are great and still enjoying parenthood. It gets easier everyday as she falls more and more into a routine. She is sleeping great through the night and napping regularly during the day. I just need to figure out the time schedule I want to get her on!

Take care, hugs to all and we will update with more pics and such once we are back from Cali. Thanks!!

Peter Cotton Tail

Happy First Easter to Taylor!! Thanks to her cousin, Jessie, she wore the cutest Easter bunny outfit today in celebration! I know I am biased, but I am pretty sure there is nothing cuter than my baby dressed up with bunny ears and bunny feet and please, do not forget the fuzzy cotton tail on the back of her pants! Peter Cotton Tail did come to Vail and left the traditional cotton path from each of our rooms to a giant counter filled with candy and goodies! Such a great Easter morning with friends, family and snow!! Kind of crazy considering Easter is usually Spring time but last night we got all sorts of new snow so it is more like Easter in a Winter Wonderland!

Our Venture to Vail

We just had such an amazing weekend! Our great friends the Kings and the Smabys :) had asked awhile back to come to Indy to meet Miss T. Upon thinking for a moment, we realized a weekend in Vail might just be a lot more fun than Indy... and we were right! Soon after making our plans, no one wanted to miss out on the fun! There ended up being 11 of us total here over the past few days and it was such a great time getting to visit and hang out. Included in the festivities were my folks, us, Dave & Jenny, Brett & Krista, my bro and Mash and my Aunt Vicki!

Mom spoiled us rotten with many a home-cooked meal and margaritas in the hot tub! We had a blast skiing while Taylor got more attention than she could have ever hoped for by the non-skiers! It was so great to be together, ski the last great weekend of the season and just relax.

They all arrived Thursday night and we decided that we would just spend our evenings at home talking, playing games and hanging out. After our ski days we would jump in the hot tub and then just cozy back up in our sweats and enjoy our time together. Lots of laughs, fires, good wine and great conversation. Not to mention, last night we celebrated Krista's 28th Birthday complete with Salmon and Sirloin and fun gifts for the birthday girl. So great to be able to be together!

Today, the last day they were all here, the ladies were treated to a spa day. I had my first post-pregnancy massage and let me tell you it was pure heaven!! The boys enjoyed the 6 inches of snow on the slopes that fell the night before and then sadly, everyone had to leave. Now it is down to me and T with Mom and Dad and we head out Tuesday morning!

Such a great time and thanks to everyone for flying out!!

Snug as a Bug

Taylor had her first flight just a few days ago! She did not make a peep the whole time and seemed completely unconcerned with the idea that her ears might be popping- yeah!! Mom and T ventured off alone for a 6:00am flight to Vail and although it was early, the fact that she was sleepy might have helped her just sleep away. :) Dave was nice enough to also wake up at 4:30 to drop his ladies off at the airport. We landed in Vail, where it is much colder than Indy so here are some fun pics of her all snuggled up enjoying her first of many weekends in Colorado.
