Wow! So let me just keep this short. We trained overnight from Budapest to Prague in a 10x10 compartment with 6 beds. You might be wondering logistically how this worked out- try stacking people on top of each other and not moving- that is how you cram them all in there!! Dave and Dave enjoyed a brewski while I took a Tylenol PM and tryed desperately to knock myself out! Upon boarding the train, Jenny King- world travel extraordinare laughs and looks at me and tells me how this is the nicest train she has ever been on. I just looked at her and said "I can do this, I am just going to need a minute to gather myself. " :) All in all it was not that bad once you got settled but I for sure would rather fly first class any day, but seeing as how I don't get to do that very often at all, I will stick to the overnight trains!

the train looks great to me! not as bad as the 8 hour train ride from san sebastien to madrid i took in a normal seat, no recliner, with some crazy spanish man roaming up and down the aisles ranting about the apocalypse as various cars were added and taken off at various stations.
glad you had beer; that really helps. at least you didn't get robbed!
It could be worse... I did 2 overnight trains in a compartment about your size with 6 people in seats with knees knocking into the person across from you! At least you got to lay down because I can tell you that sleeping in an uncomfortable, upright seat is not fun.
Love your stories and adventures...sounds like everything is a blast :) makes me want to go back.

Agree with the above comments on trains. Bonnie and I took an overnight train in Malaysia to Kuala Lumpur and it was a complete dump. It even smelled like someone took a dump beneath my pillow... and then set it on fire. Looks like you guys had quite a nice compartment - and really cool that you had it all to yourself!
